I don’t have a fat lot of time on the computer right now (hence my posting rate has shrunk to 1 per week lately) because of bucket loads of college work (including uni applications eep!). Ack! Anyway, just thought I’d share some inspiration or stuff-I’ve-been-dumping-over-at-tumblr-and-not-really-bothered-posting-here…

Once upon a time, I did ballet. I hated it and was awful. BUT I loved the Queen’s post on the costumes at the Scottish Ballet! A visual feast of beautiful construction and theatrical dress. Costumes are tightly aligned with fashion for me and if I wasn’t already dead set on fashion design, I’d definitely consider costume. Hey, it’s all textiles for wearing at the end of the day! I’m not a wedding person AT ALL. But this one looked like such fun! (Photos by Josh Goleman)

Like a few other bloggers, I am still being inspired by menswear. Though it’s been ongoing for a wee while for me, thanks to becoming obsessed with My So-called life and finally watching Annie Hall & the Royal Tenenbaums back in September. But yes, elements of this outfit have been getting quite a bit of wear recently! (Image via Style Salvage)

Finally, I’m being super duper inspired by magic, the macabre and the slightly quirky, sinister timeless (though kind of Victorian) thing. Think Mick Jackson’s Ten Sorry Tales or a Tim Burton film. Speaking of Tim Burton, I’m really envious of anyone in New York – I’d love to go to MoMa right now and see this exhibition then, of course, amble around the rest of the gallery! So… that’s some of what’s been catching my fancy (art college is like a bombardment of inspiration I swear) lately but… what’s been inspiring YOU?

Leave a commentI love that first picture! So wonderful. I know exactly what you mean–majoring in art at university is kind of overwhelmingly inspirational for me.

Oh my! What lovely inspirations (and thanks for including the one from my Tumblr ;). Right now I’m being inspired by 30s and 40s cold weather styles; warm coats, wool sweaters and plaid skirts (I’m on a mission to make one before the New Year!).
Best of luck with your Uni applications! :)

wonderful pictures, love the mysteriousness of them all. I’m also very jealous of the tim burton exhibition I’m missing out on, hopefully it’ll come to London

@ Amelia: I agree there. I often feel a bit over inspired if that makes sense!
@ Casey: So lovely to hear all your inspirations! I’m sure you’ll make a skirt before new year, I always think of you as a sewing wiz.
@ Pierrot le fou: I hope it comes to London too! That’s much more reachable than New York.
