Travelling into Amelia’s world
Though I adore reading the numerous blogs I follow, there is still something about having a physical object in your hands to hold. Free from wires and external influences to tarnish your perspective before you have a chance to formulate your opinion… yes, it’s been a while since I last did a post about something I’ve read. If only because it’s been a while since I’ve read something outside of blogs!

So, on monday, I decided to treat myself to Amelia’s Magazine – a publication which I’ve often considered buying, but the £12.99 price tag put me off. Well, I probably should’ve guessed it was a bi-annual magazine, which would’ve made £12.99 seem much more friendly! My speaking in past tense there is relevant, because I suppose the only reason I was swayed into action this time was because this current issue (number 10), is the last one. The magazine is your standard mix of art, music and fashion. I’ve yet to read through it all, but I thought I’d give you a sneak peak because so far, I am thoroughly impressed!

A combination of wonderful illustration, photography and words on each page makes me feel really rather inspired. The features on music make me wish I had some talent in that area, but alas, I have very little… I’ll have to resort to cracking out my fine-liner pens, a sketchbook or a sewing machine instead!

This feature on the creative folks of India intrigues me somewhat. Again, I’ve only glanced through, but as an Indian girl born & brought up in Britain (thus not really feeling any strong connection to my supposed “motherland” of India), the picture I have of the country/happenings is rather dated. Yes, I have been to visit, but I was about 13 last time I went and let me assure you, that was not a trip I want to remember. Nor was it a trip which allowed me to see much of a country which is varied and rather vast. One day, maybe I will go and explore more, but for now, reading about it through Amelia’s eyes will suffice.

Anyway, this isn’t a review as such, because having not read it all the way through, it really can’t be. It’s more of a “hey, this looks pretty good” type of post. It’s inspiring me to persevere with whatever creative endeavours I’m attempting to do (in my case, I guess it’s this blog? or the little shop in the wings? or, to look more toward the future, surviving education to get to wherever it is I wish to go?) because, though the imagery makes the magazine seem in a world unto it’s own, in actual fact the articles feature real people, thus making it all fairly attainable when you think about it.
So far, the magazine is proving to be worth that £12.99 I paid for it and let me hope, with more reading, it proves be exceed that value.

Welcome, all my little reading chums! I'm Leah and this is my creative dwelling where I write about fashion & craft &

I keep seeing that in bookstores and I’m always tempted to buy it, but for some reason I never see it when I have enough money to justify it!
