Remixd: Bright 40s feeling
My best friend from Devon came to visit for the weekend. We ventured into Birmingham as you do. She commented how there is a uniform for Brummie folks. How I chuckled. (She added there was one where she lives as well & I’m sure there is one wherever you venture)
You can’t see all that well because my head is tilted, but I tried out Casey’s 1940s hairstyle. My version used a little less hair in the rolls (my hair is shorter than hers) but it has become my staple for the last 3 days!
- Black & white polka-dot shirt: hand-me-down
- Green & white hounds-tooth skirt: hand-me-down
- Sheer black tights: ?
- Black t-bar shoes: charity shop
- Granny handbag: vintage shop
- Pearl earrings: gift from grandmother
- Pearl necklace: hand-me-down
In the evening, we went to another friend’s 18th pirate themed party. Naturally, I dressed up (unfortunately no pictures of my costume, but think a toned down version of Pirates of the Caribbean mixed with a hippie) and ’twas a good evening. Sleep was lacking as always and I discovered that I get into a foul mood once I start sobering up again! All in all, a pleasant weekend. How were your weekends?

brilliant! You’re lucky with the hand-me-downs. My mum always talks about what she had in the 80s, but over the years got rid of most of it!
Sounds like a good weekend. Mine was much the same with the drinking and lack of sleep haha.

Great outfit–I love the mix of patterns. I guess there is a uniform here…I’ve never really thought about it.

I can’t stop imagining….”pirate + hippie = ?” haha!

Oooh! I love your outfit (those shoes are so cute!) and how your hair looks!
I love how cute you look with that style, only shorter! (Makes me want to chop all my hair off so I can look as cute! hehe!)

@ Carrie - thankyou!
@ Jade - my mum threw away most of her stuff too, but there is the odd gem from both her & my grandma’s wardrobe which has found it’s way into my collection.
@ Amelia - I don’t tend to notice the uniforms anymore either, but it was interesting that she noticed
@ Lorelei - it was a rather amusing costume. Though not as good as the birthday girl’s, which was AMAZING!
@ Casey - thankyou so much! Your wonderful instructions are what made it look nice! It was surprisingly easy to do.
Thankyou everyone for all your kind comments! I did get the odd stare in this outfit whilst out & about on Saturday…

The skirt is my favourite item in this outfit!Really nice especially that it’s high-waisted.
