Brain fried… but some updates
I’ve used the post several times already. First it was an inspiration post, then it was a tip post and now… it’s an informing post. Talk about recycling!
So, since my brain has lost it’s function at this very moment, I shall tell you (and for my own benefit as well) what you can expect in the not too distant future from Coral Stars:
- DIY/craft tutorials - I’m hopefully going to be doing some mini tutorials over the next few weeks about how to make various items. I’ll be starting with one on how to create a bag from a jacket, but after that, I’m free to try out anything you desire! As long as it’s not something which is too complex (my skills aren’t super duper fantistic & I’m sure we have a few novice sewers reading) I am open to any and all suggestions. I shall brainstorm myself of course!
- Vintage style icon - on the whole, I find style icons a little overrated. I just don’t see the point of focusing on just a few “icons” because my influences come from everywhere. BUT, I want to learn a little more about fashion history and a great way of doing so, is to research icons of the past. So, maybe some kind of feature (once/twice a month?) which basically just covers a “vintage icon” and their style. I’m a little iffy on this idea, so I really want to know what you think.
- Craft/style challenge - I use the word challenge, but I don’t mean it as a competition at all. Again, I am a little iffy about this idea, but in essence, it would involve me saying “hey, let’s all try making … over the next 2 weeks” (or similar). Then, we could all share our creations somehow (working on this aspect still) and see just how unique each creative mind can be! The possibilties for inspiring each other are endless because it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll see some technique/idea one person has done and think ‘oh, I like that. I’ll try it next time’… and just like that the craft bug spreads itself!
- Behind the blog - just before shutting my old blog, I was going to start a regular feature which basically involved doing a smallish interview with a blogger (indie artist, designer… whoever you’re curious about!) every so often. I was lucky enough to do one with Susie Bubble (which I am certain would not have happened had I tried it now because she seems so incredibly busy! I am in admiration as to how she does it) last time and am now toying with the idea of moving that post here (the info would be slightly outdated of course) and starting up the feature again. I probably wouldn’t be doing one more than once (maybe twice) a month, but it could be intriguing…
- Shop updates - as you can tell, I have already linked to the shop in the top, despite it not being fully open yet. It’ll be next week before I get anything into it, but, as you are my readers & I love you all dearly, I would obviously like to let you know about new items a day or two before I list them. This has nothing particularly to do with the other blog content ideas, but just letting you know in advance in case any of you are the types of people who object to blogs which do this. It would not be the main focus of the blog!
There are a few ideas. I have a couple more lurking in my mind I am sure, but they have not manifested themselves into a form my conscious mind can comprehend as yet! I’d love to know what you think of those ideas because I’m really not sure about some of them. Other than that, I’ll continue the normal mix of remixd outfits, latest finds, advice/tips on various things, inspiration and random musings.
P.S. I only just realised, but yesterday was the website’s 2nd birthday! Yes, coralstars.com has existed in some form (shop first, now a blog) for the last 2 years and I just want to thank everyone for their support. From the early days with those few who agreed to link with me, to now with everyone who leaves such kind words in comments, you are all amazing!
