Scarf cravings
I’m probably completely bonkers to be thinking of Autumn already. Yet I can’t seem to help it. Maybe it’s because of the slightly damp weather we’ve been having in Britain this week or maybe it’s just because I generally prefer wrapping up in toasty scarves and coats, something which is typical in autumn/winter. Since it’s now about quarter to 11 at night where I am in the world, I am allowing myself to forget the fact that, for me at least (in the Northern Hemisphere), it is Summer and I’m pondering Autumn wear. More specifically, I am being inspired by the ever-wonderful Yokoo.
Yokoo makes scarves as you can see, but also takes some rather fabulous photographs whilst dressing in her own style too. I remember seeing her scarves a few months ago and thinking “WOW” – because they really are rather amazing. Logic would dictate buying a scarf from her etsy shop and, were it not for the fact that they are reasonably expensive (okay, I exaggerate, they are fairly priced, I just have zero funds right now so everything seems expensive.) and my problem of I always thinking “I could make that” (though often, I can’t or never get round to it), I would buy one.
In this case, I suspect I can’t make one exactly like hers (nor would I want to because I’m being inspired not copying) but I’ve decided I’m going to crack out my knitting needles, locate some thick wool (I mean yarn sorry – regardless of the fibre, I always call it wool, which I know isn’t right in the slightest) and have a go at whipping something scarf-like up in preparation for the autumn breezes. I shall post some photos and the pattern for those knitters out there if I succeed in creating something suitable. For people who aren’t knitters (and indeed those who are), I suggest having a meander over to Yokoo’s etsy shop and letting the master work her magic.
