Latest finds: Bargain booty
It’s been absolutely AGES since I did a latest finds post. The ‘thrifting’ (I still can’t adjust to using that word, but then I can’t think of a British English equivalent which sums it all up as that word does) has happened, though admittedly it paused for a bit over the exam period. Yesterday however, I finally got round to going to a nearby car boot sale for some proper bargain hunting. One thing I will say, is that midlander (I’m guessing it wasn’t just people from Birmingham) car boot salers are a funny bunch, but they can deliver some bargains.

Vintage-style telephone // 1920s Comet camera
Probably my best finds of the day. This rather nifty vintage style (I really don’t think it’s an original, which is unfortunate but I like it anyway) telephone for £2. I remember spotting some similar 1960s telephones in Urban Village before it moved from the Custard Factory; but for £60 each, not exactly friendly pricing. This one will do nicely I think!
Even better though was this 1920s vintage camera (I was told it’s italian-made from around the 20s) for £1. I’ve no idea if it’s working, but the guy seemed friendly enough and was telling me how he had loads on a shelf at home which often served as conversation starters. I’ve got a bit of a thing for cameras (I do love photography) - I now have at least 4 (1 digital ‘bridge’ - can’t afford a dslr atm, 2 film now and 1 compact). I was keeping my eyes peeled for a polaroid camera (yes I know that they’ve stopped producing film and it’d be pointless me getting one if current supplies are going to run out, but I love the look of polaroids and still want one!) but alas none were to be found.

Tapestry bag // Cardigan knitting pattern // Squared sunglasses
Other purchases included this tapestry type bag for 50p, a craft book (not pictured) & knitting pattern for 35p and my first (will post about this in a bit) pair of sunglasses for £1. I also got a kodak instant camera, but have decided to try and sell that (ebay?) as it’s not a beloved polaroid instant camera. All in all, I spent under £5 (excluding the instant camera which I am now going to pawn on) which was not bad at all I think.
