Floral fun
I’m a big fan of patterns. Stripes, polka-dots, zig-zags, plaid, checks and of course floral (there are of course many other patterns, but I can’t be bothered to think/list them all right now).
As I no longer follow trends as much as I used to. I have a vague idea of what’s supposedly “in” (I don’t think designers should dictate what’s cool/not, it’s really up to individuals) this season (as in SS08) but I don’t actively try and find out or follow - I prefer to go by what I’m being inspired by.
Nonetheless, as I do have a perpetual love for florals (I believe I pictured some in my last post), you can imagine my joy at discovering that the cool points are headed my way (Very rare, but I can see them shooting toward me in the distance!) with floral print supposedly being an “in” thing this season.
I did attempt to go onto vogue.com & style.com to find some photos just to prove I am not lying and came across some horrendous sights. I completely understand that fashion shows aren’t meant to be taken literally and it is supposed to be a breeding ground for ideas, but after vogue showed me Balenciaga for “mixed bouquet” (a.k.a. floral on the catwalk) I wanted to weep. My apologies if you liked Balenciaga’s SS08 collection, but it’s just not my cup of tea. I swiftly corrected my eyes by looking at some Anna Sui and Stella McCartney, who I much prefer and thankfully, came across some florals. So hazar, here is my proof!

Of course, I’m still inclined to stay away from the catwalk trends, edging toward what real people are doing and what I’m feeling. But it doesn’t hurt to look at what fashion designers are doing and drawing inspiration from it - after all, inspiration can come from everywhere.
