Saturday swirling

Maybe I’m coming to the end of my current blogging burst as yet again I’ve not posted for a couple of days. I guess I’ve just been trying to get a bit of space from the computer lately and work on things in the real world. Anyhoo that is neither here nor there. Yesterday (Saturday) morning, I had my art/craft class and finally learnt some better & more correct methods of making jewellery.

As much as I would like to add these to the shop, I cannot because they are to be ‘assessed’ as part of my course. However, I now know the technique, have almost all the necessary materials and am only lacking tools (cutters & pliers), so I’m sure something similar could come about. Or even some new fabulous designs! Jewellery is incredibly easy, cheap and profitable (for those entrepreneurs here) to make - these came to under 50 pence and yet could probably be sold for £3ish (I’m guessing there).

In the afternoon, I was sadly dragged out to a 7th birthday party (not someone I knew) but all was not lost because it was in one of my favoured charity shop hunting grounds (I always come back with at least one item, last time was my £5 antique sewing machine). So I did in fact come away with a new (old) purse, a brooch & a skirt (which I have not photographed today because the lighting is awful. It is floral fun though!)

I’d conclude the my high street shopping ban is going well… 2 months and counting! The funny thing is, I don’t miss it at all. I feel a lot more satisfaction when I’ve found or made something. It feels like I’m actually working for “my style”, rather than just mindlessly absorbing the mainstream looks. If that doesn’t justify it, saving a LOT of money does!
