Furry friend

fur coats

Fur coats (and other items) seem to be on the rise. I really do hope they aren’t the real deal, though I fear it may be from this quote by Susie Bubble last week:

…As the PETA protestors were outside Koko, inside oddly a LOT of fur was present. Most of it seemed vintage be it a little stole, a full-on jacket, trimming on a waistcoat or on a hat. There was a surprising amount of it…

I’ve actually been wanting a FAKE jacket/coat for a while now (since early November). I have absolutely no idea why because fur is one thing I hate about fashion. I mean, why do animals need to be killed when there are perfectly good fakes around? And why would you want part of a dead animal draped around yourself? It’s maddness. Nonetheless, some people have no quarms about this.

Personally, I would not choose to wear real fur. I avoid it when I venture into vintage or charity shops (yes I have seen the odd item in a charity shop) - it repulses me. I’ll seem a complete hypocrite now because I probably own some leather in shoe form… it’s difficult to avoid I guess. Still, the idea of having something which vaguely represents an animal on your person is just disgusting. It’s furry for goodness sake! It’s like wearing your cat or dog. Urrgh.

I’m clearly being inspired by the 1930s at the moment because I have been wanting a fake fur coat to wear (or have I just become another fashion victim and this is some kind of new trend?) in the winter chill. The question is, where to find a suitable coat which is FAKE? (I think I have a fake dalmatian coat from when I was about 7… I wonder if I still fit into it…)
